Yes, it is a guilty pleasure of mine but I admit to visiting the Real Estalker site several times a week. Seeing the insane properties that are for sale for $3-4 million are fun. However, in this case....Mama says it perfectly when she says, something along the lines of "couldn't they have just picked up nice property for a mere $60 million and then spent the other $100 million on feeding starving children and curing cancer?" For reals.

And, call me a lover but....this is just going too far. No hugging. Do I understand the theory behind the rule? Yeah. Do I think the rule should be put into practice? No.Rules against hugging are....beyond my imagination.
Okay, maybe you need to put some type of rule into effect. I don't know. I'm not familiar with what's going on in junior highs and high schools anymore. But the time limit needs to be more than 2 seconds, right?

And...dumb Americans. What more can I say?
Although, admittedly, I had no idea who Ralph Ellison was either. Evidently the NCLB started way back when I was in school....
Question though - why are we asking high schoolers (in public schools) about who Job is? That's Christian knowledge, right? Granted, I think that the phrase "the patience of Job" is pretty universal in its use, should we really expect people who aren't Christian to know about it? I'm not sure.

And, lastly. Why does my formatting get all screwed up when I try to break up my posts with either "***********" or "______________"? First two paragraphs of this post? Perfect. The next three topics? Screwed up. It is really making me mad. Truly.

As always, you find the best stuff online!
I thought it was interesting in the education article, that they should suggest focusing narrowly on reading and math can crowd out history, literature and other subjects?
Umm couldn't that imbalance be addressed simply, without discouraging good reading practices, by just steering students towards reading different subject matter? .. just a thought.
Great point. I think a different focus (of reading) would do wonders. One of my best friends is a high school English teacher. I should ask her what dictates what she teaches, what she exposes the students to, as far as literature.
I know that *I* would be tempted to give Harry Potter a go but that's probably why they let me teach the college students, eh?! So I can show them "Bowling for Columbine" and "Super Size Me" and feel good about it?
And, on finding stuff, just wait until you see what I found during lunch today! *w*
I suppose someone has to make the decision what's important to know, and what isn't (and in some ways I'm glad it isn't me!)
As a 14 year old I was one of a trial year of English Lit exam students, who didn't have to study Shakespeare *gasp* .. there was a public outcry!! *lol*
We did have field trips to see productions of his plays in Stratford though, so we weren't completely left out in the cold!
As for your latest find? .. I can't wait to see it!
