Admittedly, I’m not a parent but I just don’t see the cause for uproar. In fact, I think the campaign is just what should be expected for a show that has been creating a buzz since arriving on air last September. The concept (of the program), after all, is one of buzz…gossip…all the good stuff. Why not have a “racy” campaign to announce its post-writers’ strike re-arrival?
CW responds: "We wanted to create a provocative campaign that stands out from the competition and reminds viewers of some of the 'OMG' moments that have made Gossip Girl one of the most buzzed-about new shows on television," the CW said in a statement. "This sexy, sophisticated campaign speaks directly to our adult 18-34 viewers using expressions that are part of their lexicon."
The marketer in me says…"Bravo GG."
The fan of the show in me says…."Fabulous!" and "Can’t wait for the remaining episodes!"
Is it April 21 yet?

I'm sure there are more than 34 adult viewers *w*.
I admit it, I think the ads are hot .. I also adore the show.
It may well be all about titilation, shopping, and pretty people doing sexy/controversial things .. kind of like the National Enquirer (but with fictional characters).
That said .. it's fun dammit, and I'm looking forward to the new episodes too!
Oh, and for the record, I personally find ambulance chaser ads far more offensive than these .. and let's not be naive .. I don't exactly need to explain OMG, or even OMFG to my 10 and 11 year old boys.
Yay!! The voice of a reasonable parent! Ummm....you're needed in ranks. Seriously. Someone needs to talk some sense into those other parents.
I bet there are at least 35 adult viewers out there. Don't you think? heh.
*shrugs* And even if they ARE referring to ages....pffffft. I mean, I was watching Hee-Haw from the time I was 6. It's my parents fault that I'm a demographic buster!
Oh, and I love the ads too! The right one more than the left one, for some reason....
