By the way....I still eat meat. Almost daily or at least a few times a week. I *do* try to do my part in saving our world in many other ways though!! Really, I do. I won't ever have any kids, but no sense in not doing my part in making the world a better place for other people's kids. Do I do "all that I can?" No...but I do do.
This weekend I became aware of this restaurant.
Otarian
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. It is certainly an innovative way of promoting your products. We've *almost* grown used to restaurants giving us more information than we know what to do with - at least in certain U.S. states (the listing of nutritional information, to include calories, fat content, protein content and carbohydrate content on the menu). This is done (by government mandate in most of the places where it occurs, perhaps it also occurs in other places "just because we want to help"?) to help the consumer make a more informed decision.
But this is something entirely new. Yes, it is more information so more information leads to consumers making more informed choices, right? Theoretically yes. Practically? Hmmmmm......
Here's an article about the opening of the restaurant.
Low Carbon Restaurant Opening
Do I want to know how much of the planet was destroyed in the creation of my sandwich? I'm not sure.....I might just choose to engage in willful ignorance. How about you?
In other news, I watched a pretty cool documentary this weekend. It was called No Impact Man
It is worth a viewing, for sure. Is it "too far," in my opinion? Yep. Way too far, but that doesn't mean that there aren't useful lessons that can be drawn from it. We can all do our part in reducing what our impact is.
